SLY Wetscrubber

Client Needs: Expand their steel grit usage capacity (needed for carbon steel production) while keeping emissions low.

Solution Proposed: SLY Wetscrubber to capture particulates and keep them contained in a form that can be properly disposed of.

Result: K&T Steel lowered their emissions while also increasing their steel grit usage capacity from 32,500 lbs. to 219000 lbs. per year, significantly expanding their capacity for carbon steel production.

“This project allowed us to increase our steel grit blasting limit nearly four times due to the increased emission control efficiency of the Sly Wetscrubber which in turn increased our production capacity for any material that required blasting.”

Keith Depew / K&T Steel

K&T Steel is a premier steel fabricator located in Twin Falls Idaho, providing steel to their clients since 1959. During the production process of steel, particulates can be released into the air that is harmful to breathe. The government has specific requirements that steel producers must operate inside of with regards to emissions. K&T Steel was looking to increase their limit of steel grit usage in their production process. This required an equipment upgrade that would allow them to keep their emissions low while expanding their steel grit usage capacity.

Working with Annik and SLY a wetscrubber was designed and installed to capture the majority of the particulates released into the air and allow K&T Steel to increase their steel grit usage capacity from 32,500 to 219,000 lbs. per year which in turn increased production capacity for carbon steel products.
