Robert Griffin / American Gilsonite

American Gilsonite is a mining company in Northeastern Utah that supplies Gilsonite® or Uintaite to companies around the globe. It is an additive in oil, gas drilling, as well of other industrial applications.

American Gilsonite required a "workhorse" conveyor to consistently move minerals in high quantities from one point to another inside the plant to be prepared for processing. The finished conveyor is 125 feet long and is set at a 43-degree angle to move the minerals where it needs to be. It has been in place now for over a decade and has been running consistently since it has been installed. The only maintenance that has been needed has been to change out the paddles inside the conveyor, which has happened twice. This rugged drag conveyor has moved over 540000 tons of mineral since it was commissioned and is expected to be a staple at American Gilsonite for many years to come.

Actual images inside of American Gilsonite are unavailable. These images are sample images of a Sidney Drag Conveyor to show generally the shape and function of the conveyor.
